Teach Children to Respect by Treating them with Respect

Pupils raising hand in classroom at the elementary school
In order to teach or child to treat others with respect and dignity, they must also be treated that way.  And childhood is a time for children to learn about the world, including how to get along with others. Parents play an essential role in teaching children how to form healthy relationships and grow into socially adept individuals.  This social competence allows children to be cooperative and generous, express their feelings, and empathize with others.
The most effective way to teach children this lesson is by modeling the behavior you want to encourage.  Every time you say “please” or lend a helping hand, you are showing your children how you would like them to act. Ask for your children's help with daily tasks, and accept their offers of help. Praise your child's good behavior and traits often, and help them realize how good it feels inside to do a good deed or be generous with another person.
Socially competent children are ones who have a strong sense of self-worth and importance.  When a child feels good about themselves, it's easy for them to treat others in a positive, helpful manner.
Encourage acts of generosity through sharing and cooperation.  Let your child know when it's someone else's turn with a toy or on the swing and praise their ability to recognize this on their own.  Thank them for being polite and respectful and for sharing and cooperating.
Children know from their own experiences that words can hurt and that name-calling, teasing, or excluding others affects how people feel. Children want to be treated fairly, but they don't always understand how to treat others the same way. One way to teach fairness is to explain a rule to your child, pointing out that it applies to him as well as to others.

“Brandon can be an expert pet trainer. From dealing with tigers and bears for film and tv to training canines to perform customized tasks to aid disabled veterans, he has dedicated his life to bringing canines and people jointly to make a happy home,” said David Rogier, co-founder, and CEO of MasterClass. “Brandon’s MasterClass provides members the chance to learn clear, easy-to-follow techniques and tips about how to teach their dogs-no matter how old they are.”

From brand-new owners with a rowdy new puppy or a shelter rescue to experienced dog owners looking to improve on the training essentials, McMillan’s MasterClass will teach users foundational training techniques to help connect and deepen trust between humans and their dogs. Through in-depth demonstrations showing the full obedience training process with a range of different dog breeds and age groups, many of whom were rescues, McMillan will give members a definite understanding of how to train the “7 Common Commands,” such as sit, stay, and down, that owners use daily with their dogs. His class will also educate students on how to approach removing common behavioral issues such as excessive barking, chewing, and even house training. To help owners make decisions based on their specific dog’s factors, McMillan will give an overview of key variables that make every dog unique using their breed to their imprinted DNA. Most importantly, MasterClass users will leave feeling assured in their ability to create good practices and develop a deeper connection with man's best friend.

Are You Too Old To Go Back To School?

your schooling may be

You want to go back to school and continue your education. Perhaps you'd like to earn your first degree or you'd like to earn a new degree in a different field. You've been dreaming of that degree but haven't dared believe your dream can come true because you think you are too old.

You aren't. It really is that simple. I don't care what your age is, as an experienced college-level educator I can assure you that you are not too old, because there are many non-tradition all students on college campuses today (and likely some of those are older than you are), your life experience gives you many advantages over more traditional students, and with the growing nontraditional population many colleges have programs and services especially tailored for the nontraditional student.

I went back to school in my 30s and today I teach college. Yes, I have many traditional students in my classroom but every semester I have a large percentage of nontraditional students as well. I have students in their late 20s as well as 30s, 40s, 50s, and up. I have students who have retired from one career and are looking to move into another. I have students whose children (or grandchildren) have left the nest so they are looking to enter a new stage in their life.

I also have many students balancing school with work and family. I have students who are the traditional age but are in nontraditional circumstances including children and family, work and military service, as well as sports and other activities. You are a unique person, but your situation is not as unique as you might think.

In many ways, your age, or rather your life experience, will be a tremendous asset for your return to school. Nontraditional students understand much better than traditional students how to manage their time and prioritize tasks. In addition, nontraditional students are often much more motivated and goal-oriented than their more-traditional counterparts. Finally, your life experience also gives you a great deal of knowledge and experience to fall back on or pull from when it comes to understanding, applying, or adapting the new knowledge you gain through college. I regularly see my nontraditional students outperform traditional students in many ways, but it ultimately comes down to a maturity of thinking and reasoning that can only come with growing up. I know when I returned to college as a student after working for a number of years that I did much better in the classroom and also handled my workload much better than I did when I was a more traditional student.

Today colleges recognize they have a changing student population and offer classes in a variety of formats including on-campus, off-campus, televised, and internet as well as a range of schedules including days, nights, weekends, and accelerated. In addition, there are now support services available for students who fall outside the traditional student role. Much financial aid and scholarship programs also exist specifically for the nontraditional student.

In the end, it really comes down to your own gut feeling. Do you really want that degree? Are you ready to change your life? You can do it and there will be help and support available for you. Don't use your age as an excuse not to pursue your dream.

Learn to play Guitar in a few days not months

Helpful lessons have been put together for the beginner learn to play guitar student who feels a need to play music but doesn't know where to begin.

What kind of guitar are you going to buy?

If you have a rough idea of what kind of music you want to play, the next step is to find yourself a guitar. Let's start with the basics – nylon string or steel string. A nylon string guitar was made to play classical and folk music. Acoustic guitars make their music by sending the vibration of the strings to the soundboard. The vibrations are then amplified in the body of the guitar. Nylon string Learn to play guitarguitars make a mellow tone; steel string guitars make a brighter, more metallic sound. One of the main things that will influence you in deciding what kind of sound you want is the guitar your favorite performer plays.

If you are just starting out, you will not need a top of the range guitar but it is best to get the nicest one in your price range. A cheap, poorly made guitar will be an uphill battle to play. A good instrument will make your practice sessions something to look forward to.

Try different guitars. See how the neck feels. Check out if one neck feels more comfortable to play than others. Another consideration is the distance of the strings from the fret board which is called the “action”. Low action is easier to play but if you are planning on strumming enthusiastically or picking loudly the guitar may tend to buzz.

Go ahead and learn.

The very first step toward learning to play acoustic guitar is to develop confidence and to overcome your natural reluctance to try new things. Lack of money, lack of time, or lack of a good teacher are three big obstacles to your guitar learning progress. The other three big obstacles are all you. You may be your own worst enemy. How do you react to a challenge? Challenges are your friends. If you find yourself getting frustrated, and not wanting to continue your practice, it might be time to downsize your goal, at least for a while. If you have two chords that you have trouble with, work on the first one alone for a while. Once you have improved a little, go to the next one.

Daily Practice

As far as your daily practice goes look at starting with half an hour a day. If you can do more, great, you'll become a guitarist faster. The way you carry out your practice is crucial. Putting in the time isn't the only requirement. If you rush or try to fit too much in, then you're working against yourself. Err on the side of too little material at first. If you really are accomplishing what you set out to do in less than thirty minutes, then add a little more.

Tuning Your Guitar

You can find online guitar tuners to help you get your acoustic guitar in tune. Take a day or two of your practice time to get the knack of tuning. When you start to develop an ear for tuning, try tuning the guitar without the tuner.

Holding Your Acoustic Guitar

Long hours of practice can take their toll. Learning how to sit and play your acoustic guitar is an art. There are places on the internet that have illustrations showing you how to sit when you're playing, but it would be good to find somebody with a little experience to show you. But don't just go with the way one person plays. If he's self-taught, then you don't want to pick up his bad habits!

Final Thoughts

Learning the guitar can be as frustrating as it is fun, so these Learn to play Guitar guides will help you to quickly overcome your fear of playing in front of others. It will take you some time to be comfortable so practice and what your skills grow. Have fun hope to see you soon.
